Did You Know?

The world famous Ballydoyle Stable, founded by one of the greatest trainers of all time, Vincent O’Brien, has seen some legendary horses pass through its doors, many including the great Saddlers Wells went on to stand as stallions at their breeding arm Coolmore Stud. Our tip for Tipp is to keep an eye out as you drive through the south east of Tipperary. The beautiful young foal you see by their mother’s side could be a future horseracing legend.

Itinerary: Cycling Routes

Keeper Hill Cycle Tour:
The Keeper Hill Cycle route is 58kms circular cycling route to Keeper Hill, the highest point in the Silvermines Mountains in Co. Tipperary. The fully signposted route is designed to be a 1-day tour of the most interesting sites and scenery in the region.

Slates and Stars and Silvermines Cycle Tour:
A cycle route through North Tipperary. The slatey highlands, called the Arra Mountains, from the lower east shore of Lough Derg. The route passes old slate quarries along beautiful lake shoreline rising to 120m near Portroe.

Holycross Cycle Tour:
The Holycross Cycling Tour is based out of Thurles in Co. Tipperary and is a 45km cycling tour, designed to give the visitor a day’s cycling in the eastern part of Co. Tipperary
