Welcome to Upperchurch

Upperchurch is a small village close to Thurles in Co. Tipperary. Upperchurch is twinned with the neighbouring parish of Drombane for many aspects of life including hurling (a traditional Irish sport played with sticks and ball). The community has been involved for many years in developing tourism products including hillwalking.
The Community organises many events throughout the year and the most popular is the Walking Festival held every November in the village making great use of the three National Looped Walks in this area of Tipperary.
A genealogy and tourist information centre is open to the public in the village. The village is served well with traditional Irish bars Kinnane’s, Murrays, Ryans and Jim O’ the Mills which has traditional music every Thursday night.
Close to the village there are excellent equestrian facilities to try some horse riding such as Crossogue House in Ballycahill and Tipperary Mountain Trekking in Borrisoleigh. Gourmet meals and excellent accommodation is available close by at Inch House or choose from some of the hotels and B&B’s in Thurles Town.
