With the end of the summer holidays looming and the kids going back to school this month, there has never been a better time to enjoy some quality time with the family. August is the perfect month for adventures as the weather returns to its warm ‘back to school’ phase, so why not get out and about and experience some of the events that Tipperary has to offer? Fancy picking up a new hobby or just finding a new place to play? Get ready to fall in love with Tipperary’s great outdoors this week at Dundrum House Golf Club Open Week. The annual event is open to all, old members and new. For just 20 euro for visitors (and 8 for members), discover a new talent or even just a passion for golf. Cyclone Rep Theatre Company and Cahir Social and Historical Society have come together to present “Summer Shakespeare Season at the Castle”.

This series will feature modern and humorous adaptation of Shakespeare’s masterpiece. “Replaying Hamlet” will be performed in the Great Hall, Cahir Castle on the 4th August at 8.15pm.

Clonmel Co. Tipperary

Clonmel in August promises to be full of Festival cheer with the return of Festival Cluain Meala from the 5th – 13th August. The town is to be transformed over nine summer days with bike races, gigs, busking, medieval village, medieval inn trail, culture and a family fun day, all focusing on free events. The successful collaboration of the three major festivals staged in Clonmel in August – the Medieval Walled Town Festival, the Suir Valley Three Day Cycling Festival and the Clonmel Busking Festival celebrate Clonmel’s rich tapestry of culture, sport and music.

The 8th annual busking festival will take place from 10-13th August. With 4 days of live music and over 100 live bands, you will get to discover busking, new artists and lots of family fun including the family fun day in Denis Burke Park on Sunday. All music is free of charge.

On Saturday the 12th August the 2nd Bulmers Busking competition takes place, with 1500 euros in prize money up for grabs.

Lily's Bar Nenagh are hosting North Tipperary's no 1 festival, Lily's HappyDay's Festival, in the Nenagh Showgrounds the weekend of the 19th and 20th of August. The music festival will be over 2 days, packed with both local and national talent Headlined by the BLIZZARDS and JERRY FISH. Overnight camping is available for those who have come from afar or those who just want to make a weekend of it.

Event in Gurteen College

Tipperary County Council in partnership with Teagasc, Tipperary Energy Agency, the IFA and Gurteen College are running the ‘Energy in Agriculture’ event on the 22nd August, 2017 in Gurteen College. The event, which will be opened by Minister Naughton, will include national and international speakers on energy efficiency on farms, renewable energy developments and the legal and regulatory processes involved. The event will open with a panel discussion facilitated by Damien O’Reilly who hosts RTEs Countrywide and will also include practical demonstrations of technologies and trade exhibitions.
